UPLAND BIRD HUNTING:

Western Colorado has long been famous for its excellent fall blue grouse hunting, and is also quickly becoming well known for its equally excellent fall and spring turkey hunts. The over 5,000 acres of private land that are part of the Hubbard Creek Outfitter’s ranch and operation are loaded with grouse and turkey!

Turkey hunting is done by stalking and calling when appropriate. Big Toms abound in the open meadows and sometimes in the heavy woods where the shot at a trophy bird can come very quickly.

Blue grouse are scattered throughout the pines and conifers. They often will sit tight until you practically step on them, and then flush from beneath your feet. They provide a challenging shot when on the wing, and are excellent tablefare.

Throughout the Hubbard Creek region of Colorado, we pride ourselves on excellent grouse and turkey hunting, with plenty of uncrowded acreage and guides who are better than “bird dogs!”
